“DJI, the world’s leading drone maker, announced Tuesday it’s revamping its maps to better inform drone pilots of nearby risks, while being careful not to restrict reasonable flights.
The new maps may prove most valuable when temporary flight restrictions are issued for areas ravaged by forest fires. Fire departments have at times had to ground their helicopters because drones wandered into their airspace, creating an unsafe situation. DJI’s new system would warn users via its app that they were about to fly in a restricted area. But it would not be an all-out restriction on such flights.”
