Sheriff’s officers learn to fly drones

Sheriff’s offices in the Twin Counties are in the process of training and certifying staff to operate unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly known as drones, for purposes including search and rescue.

Drones are aircraft that do not require a human pilot. In most cases, drones are operated with a remote control unit by a person stationed on the ground.
