FAA allows commercial drone to fly at night (and other news from Washington today)

“The use of drones for business purposes has achieved another milestone: For the first time, the Federal Aviation Administration has approved night flights by a commercial drone operator.

The U.S. unit of Industrial Skyworks Inc., a Toronto-based company, will use unmanned aerial vehicles for nighttime inspections of buildings and roofs, according to the Wall Street Journal. Its flights will be subject to lots of safety restrictions — bright lights, advance notice of flights, and pilots trained in night flights, for example.”
