Unauthorized drone flights on the rise

As drones become more readily available for the public, concerns are growing over hobby pilots who may not understand airspace regulations, and how law enforcement is supposed to enforce the rules.

Increasing recent reports of unauthorized drone flights within Klamath Falls city limits have authorities and licensed drone pilots alike concerned that someone untrained could cause an accident.

Unsubstantiated reports indicate a recent unauthorized drone flight near Kiger Stadium on the Fourth of July during a fireworks display, as well as a peeping tom incident involving a drone. Additional notable reports of unauthorized flights include a drone filming an airplane crash site in May a few hundred yards away from airport boundaries …
