Report: Reaper drones like those in Syracuse prone to lose power, drop from sky

“The Air Force’s MQ-9 Reaper drones, like those now flown out of Syracuse’s Hancock Airport, have been plagued by electrical failures that cause the unmanned planes to drop from the sky, according to a Washington Post investigation.

In a front-page report today, the newspaper said it had obtained Air Force documents showing that investigators traced the Reaper’s problems to a faulty starter-generator.”
