State to invest $30M more in drone effort

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo was headed to Syracuse Thursday afternoon to announce the state was investing $30 million more in the effort to make upstate a leader in unmanned aerial vehicles, better known as drones.

This investment, which will be made through a partnership between Empire State Development Corp. and the Syracuse-based NUAIR Alliance, is part of Project U-SAFE (Unmanned Aerial System Secure Autonomous Flight Environment), where the state has committed $250 million over the next five years.
